Wise Guys Hey, all. I'm using today's snow day to do some fantasy baseball research. Just wanted to point out the following regarding position eligibility. The following players may be kept ONLY at utility, as they spent 20+ games at DH last year but did not accrue 20 appearances in the field at any one position:
- Shohei Ohtani
- Kyle Schwarber
- Yordan Alvarez
- Ivan Herrera
The following players who are draft eligible and may draw some interest are also only eligible to be drafted at utility:
- Christian Yelich
- Marcell Ozuna
There are other guys this applies to as well, but these are the most notable names. And remember, we now have 2 utility spots, so this really shouldn't be an issue. Plus, once a guy appears in the field somewhere this year, he can be moved to that spot.
That's all for snow day baseball info, I'll be in touch soon!

Wise Guys It's all over. Congratulations to Wake n Rake for taking home the championship again. Here is the money breakdown for everyone to see...
Payouts
Wake n Rake : $1,423.95 won - $58 for extra player pick-ups = $1,365.95 to collect
Wise Guys: $776.70 won - $4 for extra player pick-ups = $772.70 to collect
Detroit Degens: $388.35 won - $44 for extra player pick-ups = $344.35 to collect
And only two teams still owe money since they went past the first 20 "free" player pick-ups and didn't finish top 3...
Benny Bombers - $32 owed (pay yourself, Bry)
Steamin' Seamen - $50 owed
All other teams are square. Please plan on next year's draft being on SATURDAY, MARCH 21ST! More details to follow during the offseason. Message me anytime at 302-897-1236 with any questions or concerns. Thanks for a great season, everyone!

Wise Guys Ok, there's a huuuuuuuuuge mystery about how the top three teams are going to shake out, so here's some math on the breakdown...
As we agreed before the season, 1st place receives 55% of total pot, 2nd place receives 30%, and 3rd place receives 15%.
The pot begins with 10 players each putting in $250, which equals $2500, except I withhold $99 from mine to pay the Onroto league fee, so that leaves us with $2401. (Next year I'm changing this to $2400 even because I have to use a stamp to physically mail in a check, otherwise they charge a credit card processing fee. You've been warned.) Anyway...
Each team gets 20 "free" player adds, and incurs a $2 charge for each extra player thay add after the first 20. Going around the league, I see that many teams were at or below the threshold, but we did have 94 transactions that pushed teams past the limit. So 94 x $2 = $188
$2401 + $188 = Grand total pot of $2589, and here's how it'll break down when our treasurer Mr. Kelly pays it out...
1st place: $1,423.95
2nd place: $776.70
3rd place: $388.35
If anyone sees any errors in my math or reasoning, please let me know. Once the season officially concludes, I will notify everyone about who owes what so that payment can be submitted promptly. Congrats to our winners, whoever they end up being! 09-24-2025 at 2:37:27 PM |
Wise Guys Vote results for round two of our polls:
4. No trading of "cap space".
5. Free agent salaries will remain at 70 cents.
6. Higher priced players (i.e., salaries over 70 cents) will effectively be waiver guys and keep their original salary if they are picked up in their first week on the wire. They will then revert to 70 cents like everyone else if they are not picked up in Week 1.
As for that last vote, Al did express that he thought we should implement this idea right now rather than waiting until 2026. I am fine with this as well. Does anyone else feel strongly one way or another? I will text the group chat for input, and we may have to make another poll to clarify if we should also honor what YEAR the player's contract was in previously. (Example: I drop a $2 player in year 2 of his contract. If someone picks him up the following week, his salary remains $2 but does the contract start over in "year 1" or remain "year 2"?)
Anyway, we'll hammer that out. Lastly, a reminder that our TRADE DEADLINE IS LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY -- 8pm on Sunday 7/27!!!
Commish 07-21-2025 at 07:53:09 AM |
Wise Guys Vote results:
1. Beginning in 2026, we will move to a 5 outfielder, 2 utility player lineup. Inattentive owners rejoice! (I also voted for this, but just saying.)
2. Draft pick trading shot down. Will not be implemented.
3. Current system will remain for players yet to make their MLB debut, regardless of if they were acquired on draft day or in season. Their contract does not start until their first call-up. (Side note: Remember, if you keep these types of guys from season to season, we have changed the taxi squad rule and you lose your draft slots starting from the top. Example: Someone picks up Gage Wood next week and he doesn't debut this year (even though he should). To keep him as a reserve guy for 2026, that team will be skipped over in the first round of taxi squad picks.)
More poll questions to follow shortly, perhaps as soon as this afternoon. Thanks!

Whitey's Stooges Wow, there's a player owned by one of our teams now that was once a teammate of the Commissioner. 07-14-2025 at 12:58:57 PM |
Whitey's Stooges Anyone need SP help? I need a power bat in return. 07-10-2025 at 05:49:29 AM |
Wise Guys Following up from last week's draft, some things I am tracking...
1. We have slightly altered the payout structure. Going forward, it is now 55% for 1st, 30% for 2nd, 15% for 3rd.
2. Trade deadline for our league will be Sunday, July 27th at 8pm.
3. Beginning next year, any minor leaguers you keep will slot in at the TOP of your reserve squad, meaning that if you keep one minor league player, you do not make your first pick in the reserve draft. Two kept players take up your first two picks, and so on.
4. We can decide later in the season...should we flex the 6th OF slot to another Utility spot, make it OF/Util, or keep as is?
I believe those were all the action items we really spoke about.
Once again, we'll have our first BidMeister waiver process of the year this Sunday into Monday, and it's different than previous years. Teams further down the standings only get their highest priority transaction and not all of them. Then, it goes back up the standings for other players' top choices before cycling to the bottom again. Reach out to me with any questions.
Thanks,

| Most Recent Player Notes for All Wise Guys Players | | | 03.09: JJ Wetherholt: Wetherholt went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Monday's Grapefruit League tilt versus the Orioles. (It was an opposite-field blast and the second home run this spring for Wetherholt. The top prospect has reached base at a .480 clip during Grapefruit League action, thanks in large part to a 7:4 BB:K. The Cardinals have not yet named Wetherholt their Opening Day second baseman, but it seems like a foregone conclusion.) Read More | | 03.09: Hunter Brown: Brown pitched four scoreless innings in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals, issuing just two walks while striking out nine. (Brown was nearly untouchable Sunday as he struck out nine of the 11 batters he faced. So far this spring, Brown's allowed just one run over 8.2 innings while racking up 14 strikeouts. The right-hander, who's already been announced as the Astros' Opening Day starter, is expected to anchor Houston's rotation in 2026 after pitching to a 2.43 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP and 206 strikeouts in 31 starts (185.1 innings) last season.) Read More | | 03.09: Leo De Vries: De Vries went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a grand slam in Sunday's Cactus League win over the Dodgers. (De Vries made his presence felt, first demolishing a two-run rocket over the right-field fence off Kyle Hurt in the fourth inning before launching a grand slam off Carson Hobbs in the fifth frame. Both blasts came from the left side for the switch-hitter, who's slashing .385/.429/.615 through 11 spring contests after Sunday's outburst. The 19-year-old is likely to begin the season with Double-A Midland or Triple-A Las Vegas, though the top prospect could push to make his major-league debut in the second half of the 2026 campaign.) Read More | | 03.09: Brady Singer: Singer allowed two hits and two walks while striking out three over three scoreless innings in Sunday's spring start against the Diamondbacks. (Singer had better results in his second Cactus League start but needed 58 pitches (33 strikes, four swing-and-misses) to get those nine outs. The results were better than his spring debut, when Singer was tagged for five runs and seven hits, but the right-hander had a similar issue with balls landing outside the zone. He managed to escape a pair of jams in the first and second innings before retiring the side in order in the third frame.) Read More | | 03.08: Andrew Abbott: The Reds announced Sunday that Abbott will start Opening Day against the Red Sox on March 26. (The left-hander had a breakout 2025 campaign, during which he posted a 2.87 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 149:43 K:BB across 166.1 innings during the regular season. He was always in the mix to start Opening Day, but Hunter Greene's elbow issues left Abbott as the obvious answer to take the ball first for Cincinnati in 2026.) Read More | | 03.07: Wilyer Abreu: Abreu went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Team Venezuela in Friday's 6-2 win over the Netherlands at the World Baseball Classic. (Prior to the WBC, Abreu appeared in six Grapefruit League games for Boston, going 2-for-14 with three walks. The Red Sox would like to see the lefty-hitting Abreu become an everyday right fielder, against both righties and lefties, but he had just three plate appearances against left-handers (0-for-3) during his time in Boston's camp. Abreu did have one at-bat against a lefty Friday and singled in a run during Venezuela's four-run fifth inning.) Read More | | 03.07: Jackson Holliday: Holliday (hand) hit 40 balls off a tee Saturday, using both hands to swing, and said afterward that he expects to take batting practice within the next week, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. (Holliday just resumed swinging a bat this week and was initially restricted to one-handed swings in an effort to protect his surgically repaired right hand. He's now swinging with both hands and seems to be making good progress from his Feb. 12 procedure. The 22-year-old is expected to miss the start of the 2026 season but does not appear in line for a lengthy absence.) Read More | | 03.06: Andrew Abbott: Abbott allowed four runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five over 2.2 innings in Friday's spring start against the Giants. He also hit a batter and allowed two stolen bases. (Abbott allowed runs in all three innings, including his third home run in 7.1 Cactus League innings. The best news coming out of the left-hander's third spring start are the five punchouts, and he upped his pitch count to 63 (39 strikes). Abbott explained to Charlie Goldsmith of Charlie's Chalkboard that he was more focused on working his pitches than the results of Friday's outing.) Read More | | 03.06: Xavier Edwards: Edwards (calf) is leading off and playing second base for Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets. (It's a great sign for Edwards, who departed Thursday's game with left calf tightness. The infielder won't have to miss any time due to the issue and will resume his regular starting spot. He's 3-for-11 with three steals over five games this spring.) Read More | | 03.05: Xavier Edwards: Edwards was removed from Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros with left calf tightness, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. (The severity of Edwards' injury is still unclear, but the Marlins will likely provide more information following Thursday's contest. The 26-year-old infielder has gone 3-for-11 so far this spring with two RBI, a run scored and three steals over five games.) Read More | | 03.05: Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that Yamamoto is slated to throw three innings for Team Japan in Friday's World Baseball Classic game versus Team Chinese Taipei, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. (Yamamoto also went three frames in his second and final Cactus League outing. The right-hander is scheduled for multiple turns for Team Japan and is tentatively penciled in to be the Dodgers' Opening Day starter March 26 against the Diamondbacks, though Roberts has held off making that official.) Read More | | 03.05: Brandon Nimmo: Nimmo started in right field and batted leadoff, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's spring game against Team Brazil. (Nimmo made his spring debut as part of a plan to gradually build up the veteran outfielder. He's expected to be the primary leadoff hitter for the Rangers in 2026.) Read More | | 03.04: Zack Wheeler: Wheeler (shoulder) threw another bullpen session Wednesday, per MLB.com. (Wednesday marked the All-Star right-hander's third bullpen as he continues his rehab from venous thoracic outlet surgery. Wheeler looks to be progressing well, and his throwing program will remain something to keep tabs on throughout the spring. With Wheeler still likely to begin the new year on the injured list, Andrew Painter is expected to open 2026 as part of Philadelphia's starting rotation.) Read More | | 03.04: Jackson Holliday: Holliday (hand) will begin swinging a bat Thursday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. (Holliday has been restricted to one-handed swings to protect his surgically repaired right hand, but he's now been cleared to resume swinging with both hands. He also began throwing last week. Holliday will begin the season on the 10-day injured list, but all signs point to a brief absence as long as his recovery continues at its current trajectory.) Read More | | 03.03: Jurickson Profar: Profar will be suspended 162 games by Major League Baseball after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug for the second time in the last year, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. (It was announced March 31 of last year that Profar was suspended 80 games for a positive PED test, and now he is set to miss an entire season for a second failed test. Profar -- who is in the second year of a three-year, $42 million contract -- had been set to serve as Atlanta's primary designated hitter this season. The club could mix and match in that slot now, at least until Sean Murphy (hip) returns, or it could seek help from outside the organization.) Read More |
| Most Recent Player Notes for All League Free Agents | | | 03.09: Ezequiel Tovar: Tovar worked on shedding weight and simplifying his swing this offseason, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. (Tovar was limited to 95 games in 2025, in part due to an oblique strain. He attributed that injury to overly complicated swing mechanics and playing at slightly above his preferred weight. Tovar shed seven pounds during the offseason and simplified his swing in an effort to bounce back in 2026. He's gone 3-for-14 this spring, but has struck out only twice, and he is also representing Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic.) Read More | | 03.09: Ty France: France appears to have a path to make the Opening Day roster, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. (Sung-Mun Song's oblique injury has seemingly opened up an opportunity for France, who has been seeing the ball well so far this spring. The 31-year-old is 10-for-27 (.370) at the dish with five RBI and two runs scored following Monday's exhibition against the Rangers. France is in consideration for a utility role of sorts, as he logged time at second base earlier in his career and could provide a solid bat off the bench, which as Cassavell notes, could be of interest to skipper Craig Stammen. However, this will all depend on whether Song is forced to begin the 2026 regular season on the injured list.) Read More | | 03.09: Hye-Seong Kim: Kim suffered a left hand injury Sunday while with Team Korea at the World Baseball Classic and didn't play in Monday's 7-2 win over Team Australia, Matthew Moreno of SI.com reports. (Kim's injury happened while he was stealing a base against Team Chinese Taipei on Sunday. He sported a thin wrap around his left hand Monday while sitting out Korea's victory against Australia, per Dodgers Nation, but to this point there's been no word on the exact nature or severity of the injury. This may just end up being a minor issue, and Kim is still at least several days away from returning to the Dodgers as Korea has already advanced to the quarterfinals of the WBC, but if the injury lingers, it could impact Kim's bid to open the regular season as Los Angeles' starter at second base while Tommy Edman continues his recovery from ankle surgery.) Read More | | 03.09: Sung-Mun Song: Song (oblique) has yet to resume swinging a bat and hasn't been cleared to participate in fielding drills, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. (The Padres have made it clear that they intend to slow play Song's recovery in an effort to ensure the issue doesn't pop up again later this season. "We've got to play that injury really cautious," stated manager Craig Stammen. "Because he had it, came back, got it again. It's just one of those things -- we can't have that happen the whole year. We've got to nip it in the bud right now." Cassavell points out that Opening Day is only two weeks away, and the fact that Song has only received treatment since aggravating the oblique injury is cause for concern.) Read More | | 03.09: Bryan Hoeing: Hoeing (elbow) expects to decide whether he'll undergo surgery "relatively quickly", Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. (Hoeing was shut down from throwing at the beginning of March after experiencing discomfort in his right elbow during a live bullpen session, and it's now being reported that surgery is on the table. The Padres expect the right-hander to make a decision in the near future, and he's also working to rehab the injury in the event he chooses to go a non-surgical route.) Read More | | 03.09: Yuki Matsui: Matsui (groin) was recently cleared to resume throwing off a mound, and he participated in defensive drills Monday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. (Matsui's availability for Opening Day remains a big question mark, but the fact that he's slowly beginning to ramp back up is a positive sign. He'll presumably need to complete at leasts a few additional side sessions before San Diego considers deploying him in a Cactus League game.) Read More | | 03.09: Jason Adam: Adam (quadriceps) will throw one additional simulated game within the next few days with the goal of pitching in an exhibition over the weekend, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. (Acee notes that Adam remains on his original timeline after undergoing left quadriceps tendon repair surgery in September. Assuming he's cleared to pitch in a Cactus League game at some point during the weekend, he would then have an opportunity to appear in three or four more games before the 2026 season gets underway. "I felt great," said Adam after taking part in fielding practice Sunday. "It's more the reactive. Like, anytime it's planned, they feel good about it. But the quick reaction, in-game reaction that you can't predict, that's where they're just being more cautious. But we're getting close.") Read More | | 03.09: Carson Williams: Williams went 2-for-3 in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers and is now 7-for-19 with an RBI this spring. (Williams, one of Tampa Bay's top prospects, closed out last season in the major leagues and is now trying to break Rays camp with an Opening Day roster spot. The 22-year-old infielder has hit safely in six of his eight Grapefruit League appearances so far, picking up a pair of doubles as well. He's competing primarily with the switch-hitting Taylor Walls, who has gone 5-for-12 with a home run and three RBI in four spring outings, for regular reps at shortstop, and Williams could still open the new year with Triple-A Durham if Gavin Lux (upper body) and Richie Palacios (back) are healthy.) Read More | | 03.09: Coby Mayo: Mayo went 1-for-3 with a single in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals and is now 9-for-22 with five RBI this spring. (Mayo is raking during spring training, hitting safely in six of his nine Grapefruit League outings to go with a trio of doubles and multi-hit games overall. Jordan Westburg (elbow) isn't expected to make his season debut until May at the earliest, leaving the door open for Mayo to begin the year as Baltimore's top third baseman. Mayo, a former top prospect, is looking to find some footing in the major leagues in 2026 after slashing .201/.285/.349 with 11 homers, 12 doubles and 28 RBI over his first 340 career plate appearances.) Read More | | 03.09: Daison Acosta: Acosta cleared waivers Monday and has been sent outright to Triple-A El Paso. (Acosta was brought in on a one-year deal back in December, but he's in line to begin the 2026 campaign as bullpen depth in the minor leagues. He struggled a bit at Triple-A Rochester a season ago, accruing a 4.71 ERA and 1.62 WHIP across 21.0 innings.) Read More | | 03.09: Jeimer Candelario: Candelario was spotted taking grounders at second base Monday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. (It remains to be seen whether the Angels will give Candelario a chance at second base during an exhibition, but Bollinger notes that his work at the keystone is an effort to improve his versatility. The Angels are presumably enjoying what they've seen so far this spring out of the 32-year-old, who is 8-for-24 with one home run, four RBI and five runs scored.) Read More | | 03.09: Max Clark: Clark was reassigned to Minor League camp Monday. (This was the expected outcome for the top prospect, who has yet to appear above the Double-A level and is still only 21 years old. While Clark went just 2-for-18 with five strikeouts in Grapefruit League play, he still managed to impress manager A.J. Hinch with his preparation and attention to detail, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. Clark will likely see time at both the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season, and he could force himself up to the majors if he plays well in the minors, though he'll need to be added to the 40-man roster first.) Read More | | 03.09: Dylan Carlson: Carlson is having a solid spring with a 1.071 OPS across 20 Cactus League at-bats, and he stands a decent chance at earning an Opening Day bench spot with the Cubs, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. (The Cubs signed Carlson to a minor-league contract in January, and the veteran outfielder is making the most out of the opportunity. The loss of Tyler Austin (knee) for at least a few months gives Chicago at least one extra bench spot to fill, with Carlson and fellow veteran outfielder Michael Conforto both making pushes to be on the Opening Day roster. Carlson didn't do much offensively last year in Baltimore, as he slashed just .203/.278/.336 across 83 games, so his fantasy value remains limited, particularly in a reserve role. However, he could have greater appeal if he's forced into more regular playing time at some point.) Read More | | 03.09: Michael Conforto: Conforto has a good shot at earning an Opening Day bench spot with the Cubs, particularly with Tyler Austin (knee) out of the mix for several months, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. (Conforto was signed to a minor-league deal last month, but he's seemingly doing enough to make a good impression, and the Cubs have at least one reserve outfield spot to fill with Austin undergoing surgery on his right knee. Conforto would give Chicago a reliable veteran presence, and while he might not make a huge fantasy impact right away as a bench piece, he could see his value climb quickly if he ever found himself in an everyday role. The 33-year-old batted just .199 with a .638 OPS and 12 home runs last season across 138 regular-season games for the Dodgers, though he was a bit better in 2024 with the Giants, posting a .237 average, .759 OPS and 20 long balls in 130 contests.) Read More | | 03.09: Martin Perez: Perez is now the favorite to open the regular season as Atlanta's sixth starter or as a potential swingman, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. (Perez's chances of cracking the Opening Day roster appeared slim to none just a few weeks prior, but the injury bug continues to bite Atlanta's starting rotation. Joey Wentz (knee) is the latest casualty, as he was diagnosed with a torn right ACL on Monday. This will undoubtedly improve Perez's chances of making the big-league roster, especially when considering that Atlanta opens the campaign with 13 games in 13 day, making it all the more likely the club elects to carry six starting pitchers, per Bowman. "I love the fact that Martin's in our camp, the guy can still really pitch," said skipper Walt Weiss. Perez has surrendered one run while striking out three over five innings so far this spring.) | Most Recent Player Notes for All Stale Gum IBL Players | | | 03.09: Ezequiel Tovar: Tovar worked on shedding weight and simplifying his swing this offseason, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The Angels are presumably enjoying what they've seen so far this spring out of the 32-year-old, who is 8-for-24 with one home run, four RBI and five runs scored.) Read More | | 03.09: Framber Valdez (on Stott's Tots): Valdez allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits across four innings of work in Monday's Grapefruit League contest against the Rays. He struck out six. (Valdez has now made two spring training appearances with his new team, and he's allowed just the one earned run across seven innings of work with nine strikeouts. The lefty gives the Tigers a dynamic 1-2 punch with ace Tarik Skubal, and Valdez seems like he's ready for the regular season. Expect him to start Detroit's second game of the year against the Padres on March 27 and once again have a strong fantasy campaign if he can stay healthy, which Valdez has mostly been able to do the last four seasons.) Read More | | 03.09: Kevin McGonigle (on Benny Bombers): McGonigle went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. (McGonigle unofficially took Luis Severino deep in an exhibition game against Team Dominican Republic last week, but now the top prospect has his first official spring training home run. The young infielder has looked good in Grapefruit League play with a .350/.458/.700 slash line across 20 at-bats in 10 contests. McGonigle is not currently on the 40-man roster and still seems likely to start the year in the minors, though he's certainly knocking loudly on the door to the majors, and he seems ready to be a fantasy contributor as soon as he makes his MLB debut.) Read More | | 03.09: Max Clark: Clark was reassigned to Minor League camp Monday. Clark will likely see time at both the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season, and he could force himself up to the majors if he plays well in the minors, though he'll need to be added to the 40-man roster first.) Read More | | 03.09: Max Fried (on Stott's Tots): Fried allowed one run on two hits while striking out six over four innings during Monday's exhibition against the Pirates. Manager Aaron Boone stated after the game that Fried will start on Opening Day, Jack Curry of YES Network reports. (This is an unsurprising development for Fried, who turned in yet another solid spring appearance Monday evening. He didn't disappoint in his first season in the Bronx one year ago, as he posted a 2.86 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with a 189:51 K:BB across 195.1 regular-season innings. It's also worth noting that the southpaw was able to remain healthy in 2025, resulting in career highs in starts, innings pitched, wins and strikeouts during the regular season.) Read More |

| Total Voters: 8 | Poll Question: Rule Question #6: We’ll do the most controversial one last, I suppose. Should we allow the trading of “cap space If we do, we would have to make some restrictions on it, such as only allowing up to $1 at a time per trade, limiting the amount of times you can give or receive in a year, only trading for the current year and not the future, etc. Anyway, should we allow money in trades? |

| Yes. I will be fully informed about the rule and all of its parameters and will absolutely not make Kevin’s life any harder by him having to track this, remind people about their adjusted salary cap, field confused questions from other league members, and have to convince senior league owners to stay in the league despite this rule passing. I enjoy being the author of my own destruction. |

| | Total Voters: 8 | Poll Question: Rule Question #5: Speaking of pickups being 70 cents…the industry standard is for free agent pickups to be assigned a salary of $10 (out of a $260 salary cap), equivalent to $1 of our money with our quirky $26 system. Ergo, shall we raise the salary for free agents (starting in 2026) or not? |

| | Total Voters: 6 | Poll Question: Rule Question #4: Right now, any player who gets dropped can be picked up for 70 cents and a fresh contract the following week UNLESS the dropped player is in the final year of a long-term contract. This unfortunately allows for a loophole where expensive guys who are out for the year but not in their final year might still get dropped, leading to a claiming team getting someone at a bargain beyond that season. So, do we institute a waivers-like rule where the claimed player gets assigned either their previous salary or 70 cents, whichever is higher?
(Somewhat related side note: We DO have a rule that if you get owner’s regret for dropping a guy and want him back the next week, you get him back at the same contract status and dollar amount or 70 cents, whichever is higher. No fresh contract if you were picking him back up in week 1.) Anyway, the question… |

| Al Loveland: I would amend this for the rest of the season. Being awful this season shouldn't give me an advantage over others to claim a player for future years. I should get him at the price the league thought he was worth, then keep the contract for its duration if I choose to. |
| | Total Voters: 9 | Poll Question: Rule Question #3: Currently, we have a very generous system where you can pick up anyone in the MLB universe and, if they haven't made their MLB debut yet, stash and hold them without their contract starting yet. Do we want to make it so that any minor leaguers picked up IN SEASON (starting in 2026) have their first year start right away to avoid this kind of hoarding? (Note: Non-MLB players acquired on auction/draft day would still have their contract start delayed, making it more worth your time to go after them on draft day than to scrounge later on.) Anyway... |

| Mike Whitfield: I think the current system allows struggling teams to rebuild. If a bottom feeder wants to hoard potential prospects then I think they should be allowed. No guarantee they hit for one. Second, if they get called up then their contract starts. |

| Bryan Kelly: Options 2 and 3 are essentially the same. OF/Util is a utility spot. I'm for 5 OF and 2 Util with full time DHs being more prominent today | | Ken Lagowski: With the universal DH this makes more sense and helps keep someone from getting locked out early in the draft from bidding on a DH and also helps eliminate a front line DH going for a dime at the end because only a few teams had a vacancy at the position to be able to bid on him. |
