Welcome to the 2026 Baseball Season at OnRoto.com.
At OnRoto we're constantly adding new features and improving and updating
old ones. The focus of this page is keeping commissioners and team
owners updated about what we've completed, what we're currently working on,
and what's coming up.
In addition, we occasionally use this page for announcements regarding how
the site handles special situations -- such as suspended games or playoff
games in the event of tied standings at the end of the year.
Most Recent Update: Wed Jun 17 09:31:02 AM EDT 2026
We just had our first suspended game of the season -- the SF/Atl game
from last night was suspended in the 2nd inning and
will be resumed today at 2:00. Below we repost our explanation of how
suspended games are handled.
First,
The relevant MLB rule is:
Suspended Games: For the purpose of this rule, all performances in the
completion of a suspended game shall be considered as occurring on the
original date of the game.
This is the way we handle this:
- For the Official Stats, which are posted everywhere on the site
except in the live scoring:
- The stats from the portion of the game played on 6/16 are already
included on this morning's (6/17) update of the team stats, box scores,
standings, free agents, MLB player data, player profiles -- everywhere.
- Since, by rule, the stats from the completed part of the game
to be played on 6/17 count as if they were generated on 6/16, they will be
applied tomorrow morning as a series of corrections to the stats
from 6/16.
- That means that if Matt Olson hits a home run during the resumed
portion of the 6/16 game today, tomorrow morning it will NOT show in
the 6/17 box, but will instead be applied retroactively as a correction
of the 6/16 box. If you have Olson, you will still get credit -- it will
just show retroactively on your team stats.
We've been doing this for a long time and have a lot of experience
-- there have been scores of suspended games -- 3 of them last season alone.
We have developed detailed, set procedures for making things work
correctly. You have to trust us when we say that everyone always gets
full credit for all their stats.
Getting the official stats correct in this situation is pretty
straightforward.
-
Live Stats for these suspended games are really tricky -- we've seen
the 'big' sites completely mess them up. This is how we do it:
- The Live MLB Boxes today will show two games for SF/Atl. The first
will be the suspended game, and it will show the full set of stats
for that game. The second game is their regularly scheduled game, which
will be played right after the suspended game is completed.
- Years ago, we wrote a bunch of programs to extract just the stats from
the completed portion of suspended games and to apply them to our live stats
for the team stats and standings. So even though the Live MLB Boxscore page
will have all the stats, just the player stats earned on 6/17 will show on your
team's live stats for today (6/17).
- Note some potential complications, however:
if you made roster moves effective today (6/17) involving
players on Cle or Min, your live stats page for 6/17 will show those
line-up changes, but for the purpose of determining your official team stats,
your 6/17 line-up is the one that is in effect for the suspended game.
For example, if you trade Olson away today, 6/17, let's say, and he hits a
home run in the suspended game, it will not show on your live
stats on 6/17 (since you've traded him), but you will get credit
for it in the official stats on the morning of 6/18 (retro-active to 6/16).
Similarly, if you trade for Olson today (6/17) and he hits a home run
in the suspended game, it will show on your live stats today, 6/17, but you
will not get credit for it when the official stats are posted on 6/18,
because Olson was not on your team on 6/16.
The bottom line is that since there may be a mismatch between your actual 6/16
roster and the 6/17 current live stats roster, there may be a mismatch between
the live stats on 6/17 and the correct, official stats. That can't be helped.
- On the morning of 6/18, after we load official stats but before we turn off
all the patches for the suspended games, the live standings will temporarily
(for 10-15 minutes) double-count the completed game stats. When we turn
off the special programming patches, the live team stats will exclude the
completed game stats, since they will have been applied retro-actively
to 6/16. So your live team stats from midnight EDT on 6/17 will differ
from the live team stats posted after we've made all corrections on 6/18.
But that is the correct implementation, so please don't send emails
about any differences in the live stats. They are supposed to be there.
The bottom line on these suspended games is that they are tricky to implement
correctly, and some stuff might not look right to you, but we promise that it
is. We know what we're doing.
Stat Correction Procedure Update: Tue Apr 14 10:35:54 PM EDT
Regarding stat corrections, our standard spiel:
In 33 years of doing this, we've rarely gone a full week
without there being some errors in the stats provided
by our supplier (regardless of who that supplier may be -- we currently
use Baseball Info Solutions, who supplies stats to a large number of
large web sites and MLB teams, etc). When errors (or changes in the
official scoring) occur, they are always caught and corrected by
BIS,
who then notifies us. After we're notified of a change, we will then
(and only then) correct the stats and standings of all our leagues. We have
elaborate procedures and protocols in place for handling this.
Please note that even if we had been personally present at a game and
had witnessed an unforgettable performance -- like a perfect game -- that
didn't show correctly in the next day's stat report, we would not make
a hand correction to our stat database until after we heard from BIS.
It is absolutely paramount that we keep our stat data base in synch with
BIS's.a
So if you run across any errors in the standing and stat reports,
please don't email us about it -- we wouldn't do anything about it until
we got the updated data from BIS (which we always do -- often the
next day) anyway.
Payment update: Thu Apr 9 04:55:37 PM EDT 2026
OnRoto is once again able to accept league fee payments via credit card. We accept VISA,
Mastercard, AMEX, and Discover. Please visit the Pay for League page at your earliest
convenience.
We appreciate everyone's patience as we navigated this transition.

Opening Day Update: Wed Mar 25 02:26:17 PM EDT 2026
Welcome the first day of baseball for 2026, everyone. Just a couple of notes:
- First, we believe everything is all set for the live stats to start populating
once the game starts at 8:05. Everything that we could test has been tested. But that
doesn't mean it's a lead pipe cinch to work perfectly. If there's a delay in getting
them posted, please don't email us. We are going to be monitoring the live stat updates
as they come in, and if there does happen to be a problem, answering emails is going to
slow us down.
- Next, we had been hoping that all the MLB Opening Day Rosters would be posted at MLB.com
first thing this morning. That was pretty naive. Only a couple of them had been updated then,
and those were not complete. Worse, all of the teams' Non-roster invitees had been removed.
Using data we got from FanGraphs, we estimated that close to 80 players who were going to make
Opening Day rosters, including a half dozen starters, were completely missing from MLB.com.
New Update As of 6:00 PM we have all the teams except
the Padres (and a handful of other players, perhaps), so we have hardcoded about 10 SD IL
players and two roster players and let the update populate. We're continuing to look for
the SD transactions and official rosters and will post them when we get them.
Because of the large number of missing players
we haven't been able to post any of today's MLB rosters. Instead, we're using
yesterday's data (because no players would be missing from those).
We've been checking for updates at MLB.com every 10 minutes since 6:00 AM.
Rosters finally started trickling in around 11:30, but as of 2:30, we're still missing 6 or 7.
We'll keep checking MLB and will publish rosters with the IL players as soon as we have them all.
- Last thing for today, since people have been asking. We have advanced one more stage
with the paperwork that we've been asked to provide in order to get the credit card processing
back on line. We hope to have an update shortly on where things stand.
In the meantime, we want to make sure everyone knows that there is no obligation to pay before
the season starts or in the next few days. If you want to pay by check now, that's fine
(see the Pay for the League link for info). But if you want to wait until credit card
payments are back up, that's just fine too. Whatever is easiest for you.
We hope everyone's players stay healthy and exceed expectations this year.
- Scott and Niv
Past Update: Mon Mar 16 06:39:25 PM EDT 2026
A quick update about the credit card payment situation:
Long story short, we are still
waiting for the new card processor to let OnRoto on to their system. We have a clear
path towards approval, but getting the required paperwork in order is taking more time than
we expected or hoped.
If you want to pay by credit card, you can wait until after this situation is resolved --
even if that's after Opening Day -- with no problem at all.
If you'd prefer to pay now, though, you can send us a check (see the Pay for the League
Page or details) -- but do not feel any obligation.
Prior Update: Mon Mar 9 06:31:54 AM EDT 2026
First update after the migration the prior weekend -- things went about
as smoothly as we could have hoped. The very few things we did miss
were all relatively unimportant.
We do want to relay one thing: A couple of people have said that they're
not receiving the various emails that the site sends out -- notices
about message board posts, trades offered/rejected/accepted/etc. We've
dug into this and we're pretty sure all our emails are being sent out and
also accepted for delivery. However, some of them may be deposited in
your spam/junk/promo folders. If you believe emails are missing, please
check there -- also ask your leaguemates to check their spam and junk
folders. We don't think this is any more of an issue than it's ever
been, but it's best to check if you are uncertain.
Thanks to all for your support.
Migration Update: Sat Feb 28 20:59:55 EST 2026
Welcome to OnRoto.FanGraphs.com.
The first thing everyone should notice is that nothing is different from
the way it was at OnRoto.com. We spent the last 10 days recreating OnRoto
on a newer, bigger, and faster server at FanGraphs. At 7 PM on the 28th,
we packaged up everyone's latest data and transfered it over. You can
pick up here, right where you left off at OnRoto.com.
One thing to note: the new server has the latest versions of all the
software packages that the OnRoto.com source code uses. And some of the old
OnRoto.com coding was not compatiable with the new versions of the software packages.
We have made sure that all the important parts of OnRoto work -- the set-up,
chat, email, trades, messages, transactions, stats, and, of course, the draft
rooms. We have not, however, tried out every single OnRoto page with
every possible option, so some stuff might not work. If you run into any problems,
please send an email to support@OnRoto.com, and we'll take a look at it right
away. We'll be monitoring that mailbox constantly the next few days.
Next, some recycled notes about Ohtani:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: The only way we could adapt our software
to support all our
Ohtani options is to ALWAYS have two Ohtanis listed in every league
(Ohtani-hitter and Ohtani-pitcher), even if you've selected
the "one Ohtani who can be either a hitter or a pitcher" option.
If you've decided to go with two separate Ohtanis, or if you're going
to treat Ohtani as a pitcher only or a hitter only, you can skip the rest
of this note. But if you want Ohtani to be one player on one team who can
swing between being a hitter and pitcher or being both at the same
time, then please read this:
-
In the one-Ohtani option, Ohtani's owner
needs to have BOTH Ohtani-hitter and Ohtani-pitcher on his team. We've
tricked up our
transaction and line-up programs to count only one of the two Ohtanis
when checking roster
limits. But to get hitter stats, an owner will need Hitter Ohtani on his
team, and to get pitching stats, he'll need Pitcher Ohtani, so he has
to have both of them.
- In some situations, the software will automatically add the
second Ohtani to a team when an individual owner picks him up, but it
doesn't kick in in all possible situations. Note, we do NOT allow
individual team owners to pick up both Ohtanis on their own,
so for now, we're relying on commissioners to add both the hitter
Ohtani and the pitcher Ohtani to teams in leagues using our one-Ohtani
option.
- We've had enough requests that we have decided we will allow Ohtani to
occupy both an
active hitter and active pitcher slot, and count as only active player. If
you elect to use
this option, though, both Ohtanis will always have to have the same status --
active or reserve.
You won't be able to split them up.
Major Announcement update: Tue Feb 17 06:18:14 EST 2026
We are delighted to announce that OnRoto has reached an agreement to become
part of Ottoneu
Fantasy Baseball and will be hosted by FanGraphs . More specifically, Niv Shah, the founder of
Ottoneu (check out the write-up of
Niv and Ottoneu in the Washington Post from several years ago) has
purchased OnRoto and is going to be running it at FanGraphs (with as much
help from us as it takes, of course). Ottoneu (which has an impeccable
reputation for customer support) is a very innovative fantasy platform that
has cultivated a fervent, dedicated
customer base over the last 15 years. But the game style that Ottoneu supports
is very specific and specialized, and is completely unlike what OnRoto does,
making us ideal partners.
We've been looking for someone to take over OnRoto for a while, and we
are certain we have found the perfect landing spot. Niv is the only person
we talked with who wants to preserve all of the specialized, quirky options
and formats that OnRoto supports. Plus, moving OnRoto to a large platform like
FanGraphs presents an opportunity to integrate some of their extensive player
evaluation content into OnRoto. It's just a great fit.
We (Niv and OnRoto) envision the migration as a two-year process. In 2026,
we plan to run the current OnRoto software at FanGraphs. Almost everything
will work pretty much the same as it always has. For 2027, though, the
OnRoto web interface will be given a very long overdue facelift. All the current
functionality will still be available, but with a more modern
presentation. In fact, updating the programming next year will allow OnRoto
to more easily handle some of the more intricate special options that
the current software struggles with. In other words, we should be able
to say "yes" to even more customization requests than we currently do.
Some practical matters:
- We hope to finish migrating the current OnRoto site to FanGraphs
servers by March 1. OnRoto will have to go down for an hour or so overnight
when that then happens to port over the latest version of all the league data.
- Because of that, we've decided that we won't be making the draft rooms
available until March 1. Because there are no overseas games 2 weeks ahead
of the actual Opening Day this year, that date should allow plenty of time for
everyone to get set up and get practice drafts in.
- We are working on getting set up with a new credit card processor, and
hope to be done by March 15 or so. The happy news here is that we won't be
asking for an additional fee with the new processor. The league fee will be
just $99 ($149 for ad-free), no surcharge. (Note that OnRoto league
fees are separate from FanGraphs Membership, and a FanGraphs Membership is
not required to have OnRoto host your league.)
-
Note that OnRoto has never really had a renewal/signup process -- the site
is available all year round, and we just assume that you are coming back,
and that you'll pay when you're ready. That policy is still in effect, so
there's no need to worry about the payment not being available yet. Just get ready
for the upcoming season as you always would
We're extremely excited about this. Niv is committed to modernizing OnRoto
while retaining (and even expanding) its functionality and capability, and at
the same time enhancing the overall experience by integrating OnRoto into
FanGraphs. OnRoto will be better than ever -- it's win/win/win. If anyone has
questions for Niv, you can reach him at
help@ottoneu.com.
Obviously, we are going to be a little busy for a while. We'll post updates here as
things progress.
-- OnRoto Support
Initial Preseason Update: Fri Jan 9 07:16:24 EST 2026
The 2026 roll-over was completed early this year (on Sat 1/3) -- all 2025
data was archived and existing rosters and set-up specs migrated to 2026.
We are looking forward to a 'normal' start to the season this year -- no
overseas games for two teams played 2 weeks before everyone else starts.
That precludes a lot of headaches.
We have some changes in the works -- the details are still being worked
out, so we're going to hold off for a couple of weeks with announcements
until everything is finalized.
As always, draft rooms will be available around the beginning of spring
training.
The basic fee structure is going to be the same ($99 for standard service,
$149 for ad-free), but payment options are one of the things we're working
on updating, so we won't be collecting any money for a bit.
That's all for now -- we'll post updates as things come together.
Thanks again to everyone for your comments and suggestions, and please contact
us at support@onroto.com for any
questions or support issues.
